As a child, I wanted to become a pop singer like Celine Dion. As a teenager, I wanted to become a crime scene analyst or a forensic psychologist when I got hooked on CSI and Criminal Minds. As an adult, I wanted to become a professor of Literature. Finally, I decided to become a content writer, not as a consolation or a last resort, but because words give me a kind of joy that even they cannot describe.
My career kicked off at 18 when I was still in college. After opting out of my first job, I had a brief stint as an introductory-level French teacher, something I’m proud of because I’m by and large self-taught. When the PhD-to-professor pipe dream fizzled out, the spring chicken joined a corporate and lasted six months, three of which constituted the notice period.
Found my feet and used my brain but lost my head at the next job. Eventually responded to a job application from UR Digital that felt too good to be true but turned out to be good and true all the way.
For those who are curious about what I “really” do, as an SEO Content Writer, I handpick and arrange words into web copy, blogs, newsletters, and reports that help our clients present themselves clearly, confidently, and credibly to their dream customers. As an SEO Content Strategist, I visualise the lifecycle of a piece of content and determine its relation to every other piece of other content in its ecosystem. If the methodology works well, I try to make it work better, and if it disappoints, I reassess and change tack.
When I’m not enjoying my blissful 9–5, you’ll find me lost in a mystery/thriller novel and looking for the next book to devour on Goodreads. Apart from reading and writing, I have a soft spot for Christian Theology (not a fanatic or a fundamentalist), cats (I had a sweet baby boy named Francis), music (Celine Dion, Eagles), and MBTI/Enneagram (I’m an INFJ 4w5 in case you’re curious).
